"The New York World's Fair is at the midway point between the beginning of basic planning and the opening day celebration."

From January, 1961 through September,1963 the Communications and Public Relations Department of the 1964/1965 New York World's Fair Corporation published a series of nine detailed reports to keep interested parties abreast of developments at the Fair.

From Report FOUR (l to r) Construction of Fair's main axis and artist's renderings of the "Fountains of the Planets"; announcement of Fair's Official Medallion; artist's rendering of proposed United Nations Pavilion; model of Port Authority Heliport and artist's rendering of the proposed Transportation and Travel Pavilion

Today these reports provide a wealth of information about how the 1964/1965 New York World's Fair came to be. This offering features the reports issued by the Fair Corporation in 1962. These three issues contain a total of 203 pages of photographs and information. They document the announcement of some of the Fair's greatest triumphs such as General Motors' participation with it's Futurama ride, the beginning of construction for other major industrial and transportation exhibits. They present artist's conceptual drawings for international and state exhibits and show how the Fair defended itself against a growing chorus of critics amidst the controversy surrounding the lack of Bureau of International Expositions endorsement for the Fair. In short, these reports document the actual start of construction for the last great World's Fair America has seen.

From Report FIVE (l to r) announcment of major participation by General Motors; models and artists renderings of Kodak, Hall of Eduction and Sinclair Refining Pavilions, model of New Jersey Tercentenary Pavilion

These reports can be extremely difficult to find on the collectibles market. Although this CD offering cannot be considered a "collectible" the reproductions of the reports are an invaluable resource for anyone who is interested in the Fair and its history. This CD provides everyone with the opportunity to own reproductions of some vary rare, unique and important World's Fair historical documents.

From Report SIX (l to r) announcement of start of construction for the Bell System Pavilion; Fair President Robert Moses defends the Fair from critics and answers criticism of lack of BIE endorsement; artist's rendering of the "Top of the Fair" Heliport and Greyhound Pavilion
