GAS - THE ENERGY OF THE FUTURE.

FESTIVAL OF GAS FACTS
The Festival of Gas Pavilion was designed by Walter Dorwin Teague Associates. The open areas are sheltered by a roof that appears to be floating five stories above the ground. The roof is supported by two sculptured steel columns. The Gas Appliance Ferris Wheel is different from regular ferris wheels which revolve from center spokes. This one is propelled by a series of special wheels located in a pit below the walkway. This accounts for the ferris wheel seeming to "disappear" into the ground when it goes around.
The Festival of Gas occupies one of the largest spaces in the Industrial Area, more than 79,290 square feet. Adding to your Festival of Gas enjoyment: the products of Besler Corp., Exitolite Corp., Descoware, Steinway, and many other great American corporations.
Location of the pavilion is at the intersection of the Avenue of Commerce and the Avenue of Progress, near the Main entrance to the Fair. More than 60% of Fair's visitors enter here. The carpet on the Carousel by Chemstrand, the special fabric in the Guides' uniforms, by Klopman Mills, the fiberglass Carousel horses are all examples of products made from gas.
All of the air conditioning (heating and cooling), water heating, and a major portion of the electricity for the Festival of Gas pavilion are furnished on-site by gas turbines. Gas makes everyone enjoy the World's Fair more because: nearly 100% of all the cooking is done with gas; 80% of all cooling is done with gas; 90% of the heating and water heating are with gas.
